About us
What is Kiteshots
Kiteshots is a project about taking kite aerial photography (KAP).
We are taking pictures from a kite, that offers a simple and unique view on the world, and is a great way of portraying people, cities, events and landscapes from an angle rarely seen.
This website offers a selection of our photographs so far, organized in galleries order by location's and keywords.
Why and How?
We started this project out of the passion of alternative photography, giving us a chance of working in the field and find a niche market in commercial photography
Unless otherwise noted all images on this website is released under Creative Commons License. Permitting you to non-commercial sharing with share alike and attribution. We are also available for contracted, on-location photography work.
Kiteshots was started in Denmark in September 2007 by Jonas Mouritsen and Anders Møller.
Our equipment
When doing kite aerial photography you obviously need a kite, a camera and then a rig, which basically mounts the camera on the kite line. Following is a short description of our current equipment:
Kite: We generally use a Rokkaku kite, because it's very stable and provides good lift. We also have a flowform 16 to use in heavy wind
Camera: We are using a brand new Nikon p5000 as our primary camera, it's very lightweight and captures beautiful crisp images at 10 MP.
Rig: we have a fairly advanced rig, equipped with servo motors and a radio transmitter, enabling us to control our rig from the ground. In addition we have a video feed from our camera, so we can frame our shots just right.
